A referral line for Harrisburg's older plumbing
Harrisburg Pipe Repair Line is a phone line, not a plumbing company. We do not employ plumbers, send crews or do the repair. When you call (717) 853-4052, we ask what you are seeing and connect you with an independent local plumber who handles that kind of failure.
A call is short. You tell us where the water is coming from, whether you have found the main shutoff, and what the building is: a rowhome, a Victorian twin, a ranch in the suburbs. We pass that to the plumber who takes the job, and that plumber contacts you directly. The independent plumber sets the price and decides when they can arrive. We do not quote either one.
The housing here is why this matters. The median Harrisburg home was built in 1947, 43 percent of city homes predate 1940, and about two thirds predate 1960. That means Allison Hill rowhouses with original supply runs on shared walls, large Mount Pleasant and Bellevue Park houses that have been re-piped in pieces over a century, and Shipoke blocks that sit entirely in the floodplain. A pipe failure in one of those buildings is rarely the same job as a failure in a 1990s tract house, and the person you reach should know the difference.
One local rule changes who you call. Capital Region Water owns the mains. The homeowner is responsible for the service line between the main and the house, along with the sewer lateral. If the leak is on your side of that line, it is your repair and a [water line](/services/water-line-repair) job for a plumber. If water is coming up in the street, that is the utility's main, and the CRW 24-hour line is 888-510-0606.
We also say plainly what we cannot promise. Availability, arrival time, scope and price all belong to the plumber, and you are free to say no after you hear them. Our part is the first conversation: the safe first step, the right kind of plumber, and a direct hand-off so you are not working through a list of numbers while water runs.
